Berri, interlocutors discuss overall situation

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Monday at his Ain el-Tineh residence, Labor Minister Kamil Abou Sleiman with talks reportedly touching on relevant ministerial affairs.

During the meeting, Abou Sleiman stressed the importance of launching a joint workshop and cooperation between the executive and legislative powers to address current challenges, as stipulated by the ministerial statement.

Discussions also focused in particular on the reforms and modernization of the National Social Security Fund.

"We also discussed the amendment of the labor code and the improvement of the national employment institution as part of a plan to combat unemployment, as stipulated in the ministerial statement," the Minister added.

Berri also met with Minister of the Displaced Ghassan Attallah, with talks reportedly touching on affairs related to his ministry.

On the other hand, Berri received the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Chris Rampling, with talks reportedly touching on the current developments.

The Speaker then met with Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Al-Omeri, with regional issues featuring high on their talks.

Ambassador Omeri said he conveyed to Berri an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammad Al-Halboussi, to visit Baghdad on a date to be fixed in the coming days.
