Foucher: Lebanon sole country to celebrate Francophonie for entire month

French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, said Wednesday that Lebanon is the sole country which celebrates La Francophonie for an entire month.

"In Lebanon, French is not a foreign language but a Lebanese one; a language that contributes to Lebanon's cultural diversity," Foucher said in a press conference to launch the month of La Francophonie in Lebanon.

The diplomat also indicated that the widest network of French schools abroad was present in Lebanon.

"The future of the French language in Lebanon is not only up to France, but also to Lebanon," he added.
