Jarrah after Cabinet session: We support freedom of media

Information Minister Jamal Jarrah indicated on Thursday that the Cabinet had finalized the discussion of its entire agenda expect for one item, in remarks made to reporters following an ordinary session for the Cabinet at Baabda presidential palace.

As he read the Cabinet decisions, Jarrah indicated that Judge Mahmoud Makkieh was appointed Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, and that General Elias Baissari was agreed to assume the post of acting director general of the General Security when General Abbas Ibrahim is absent.

"The military council's appointments have been postponed till next week due to some ambiguities," he added.

"We back the freedom of the media; yet at the same time, freedom is responsibility," he underlined.
