Banque du Liban employees declare open strike

Lebanon's Banque du Liban employees on Saturday held a General Assembly in which they declared an open strike, in protest at the attempts to tamper with their salaries as part of an overall plan to reduce the budget deficit.

The employees said that the strike will last until "political forces revoke the unjust decisions they have taken against the staff of Banque du Liban".

"We are prepared to go to the greatest extent and our position is unified; Banque du Liban will not be affected", they added.
