Activists gather in Beirut to protest waste incinerator project

A crowd of civil society activists gathered Thursday afternoon in front of the municipality of Beirut to protest a project to set a waste incinerator in the city.

MPs Paula Yacoubian, Nadim Gemayel and Elias Hankash joined the protest.

"We stand as a united front to reject the plan to build incinerators; whether they agree or disagree in politics, the deal will remain effective, which is the case for the deal-makers in the Beirut Municipality," Yacoubian said.
