Boustani inaugurates workshop promoting for second licensing round for offshore oil

Minister of Energy and Water Nada Boustani inaugurated Tuesday a consultation workshop with oil and gas companies at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Beirut, to promote for the second round of bidding for licenses to explore Lebanon's offshore resources.

In her word, Boustani highlighted her ministry and the government's commitment to developing the petroleum sector in Lebanon and attracting international companies to invest in Lebanese waters.

She also indicated that the natural gas expected to be discovered in the Lebanese sea underpinned for the electricity plan the Cabinet had recently approved.

"Lebanon is exerting efforts with friendly countries in the region to bolster cooperation in the field of energy," she said, adding that contacts with Egypt are still underway to reactivate the Arab gas line.
