The Byblos international highway has been blocked to traffic in both directions since the start of the popular movement in objection to the prevailing economic conditions in the country, as protesters continue to partake in the sit-in demanding "the formation of a new government of specialists to save the country".

On Sunday, the number of protesters of all sects has increased, while a large number of Byblos residents moved to the capital, Beirut, to participate in the central sit-in at Martyrs' Square.

Demonstrations are taking place in a civilized manner, without any friction with the security forces working to maintain the safety of the protesters.

Protesters said they would not leave the square and would not allow the highway to re-open before the resignation of the government.
