Students stranded in Egypt [due to COVID-19 lockdown] addressed the Lebanese authorities, slamming the Lebanese government's recent decision to suspend the return of Lebanese to the country until after April 27, "after continuous appeals throughout the past period, in the hopes of finding a solution to the issue of our return to Lebanon."
"Therefore, our message today is not addressed to the government, which seems indifferent towards us and our fate, but to the people of conscience and ethics, to those who still enjoy a sense of fraternity and humanity in our country Lebanon," they said, appealing to find a way to bring them back to their homeland.
The students pointed out that "someone had told them there was a private jet aboard which they could return to Lebanon, but the ticket price is at LBP 12 million", asking: "Does it make sense for the Lebanese people to be taken advantage of to this degree? How will we be able to secure the rent and the cost of food? In addition to that, our fear is growing by the day over the spread of coronavirus in Egypt."
