Tension between Egypt and Syria rose. After more than two years on Syrian revolution, Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi announced "definitive" severing of relations with Syria, the close of its embassy in Cairo and recall of Egypt's envoy from Damascus”.
Morsi did not only cut off ties with Syria but said that Hezbollah, the first ally of Syrian regime, must leave Syria instantly pointing out his words are serious because there is no place for the party there.
Morsi, in a Cairo stadium for a "Support for Syria" rally pointed out that Egyptian people stood with Hezbollah in 2006 War when Lebanon was attacked and today we stand against the party’s attacks on Syrian people. “We are against any foreign intervention in any state and we reject dictating an abroad willingness on that of the country’s citizens.
“The United Nations says more than 90-thousand people have been killed and hundreds of thousands were injured, not to mention the refugees”, Morsi pointed out.
Finally, he stressed that they will not accept at all the current regime in Syria’s future.
