Barely 48 hours after Egypt’s Presidential statement confirming the constants of the transitional stage to face terrorism, Egypt and its army were taken again in the ambush of extremism.
In fact, at least 24 Egyptian policemen were killed and two were injured next to Asheikh Zouweyd in northern Sinai, in an attack by militants, allegedly said to be Islamic extremists, security and medic officials said.
“24 persons were killed in the grenade and machine-gun attack by militants on two mini-buses carrying policemen”, security source pointed out since the incident is considered the mostly bloody since years in Sinai.
Promptly, Egypt authorities closed its land Rafah border crossing with Gaza until further notice two days after opening it partly, said the Interior Ministry linked to Hamas movement that controls Gaza.
