Beirut best city topping Paris, Melbourne and Barcelona!

Lebanon's capital was ranked 20th in the world's best cities according to Condé Nast Traveler's 2013 Readers' Choice Awards.

Condé Nast Traveler announced the winners of its 26th annual Readers' Choice Awards.

The "Top 25 Cities in the World" list had refreshingly surprising additions and rankings -- Paris came in at a lowly 22 while Bruges and Cape Town tied for 11th place.

In the organization's 26th annual rankings announced Wednesday, Beirut came in above Paris, which ranked 22nd, as well as Venice and Barcelona which jointly took 24th place.

The readers' votes named San Miguel de Allende in Mexico as the world's top city. San Miguel de Allende took the crown from last year's favorite of Charleston, South Carolina (which this year tied for fifth place with Spain's San Sebastian).

Budapest and Florence tied for second place.

Italy snapped up five of the top 25 cities, while Spain managed to take three.
