Adele dedicated her sold-out New York City concert at Madison Square Garden to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who filed for divorce this week. "I don't like gossiping, and private lives should be private, but I feel like it's the end of an era, so I'm dedicating this show tonight to them," the singer said onstage between songs. "I'm really, really sad ... I was shocked when I woke up this morning."

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. The actress requested sole physical custody of their six children with no spousal support. The couple married in 2014. "This decision was made for the health of the family," attorney Robert Offer said in a statement to Reuters. "She will not be commenting and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids," Pitt said in a statement to People. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
