Minister of Environment, Fadi Jreissati, took part in the "Mountain Challenge" march on Saturday, with the participation of the Army's Commandos Regiment and 2nd Infantry Brigade, organized by Andaket's Municipality Head Omar Massoud marking the fifth commemoration of Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Jabbour, son of Andaket.
A large number of environmental and military bodies and activists from different Lebanese regions took part in the march, which set out from the area of Sahla in Akrum towards the forests of Andaket.
At the starting point of the march at the entrance to the town of Sahla, Jreissati received a delegation from Mount Akrum who presented him with the Lebanese flag and invited him to visit the towns of Akrum.
"Akkar is the most qualified area for ecotourism, especially where we are located in Andaket, the Nature Reserve," he said.
"Our presence today is to support the regions and encourage people to visit Akkar and discover this wonderful area and its good people," Jreissati added.
"If all politicians walked in nature, we would have saved a lot of nervousness!" he exclaimed.
In turn, Andaket's Municipality Head considered today's march as a "national, military and environmental activity, held in honor of the town's son, the late Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Jabbour," adding that "the presence of the Environment Minister is to encourage Akkar and Andaket, especially its Nature Reserve," while pointing to "the importance of promoting ecotourism in Andaket and all areas of Akkar."
