The following statement was issued by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam:

"In order to enhance transparency, combat corruption, prosecute those responsible, ensure the proper functioning of public institutions, and prevent the waste of public funds, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has issued a directive to all public institutions and state-affiliated facilities. This directive requires them to subject their accounts to an internal and independent audit system conducted by a certified auditing and accounting firm, in accordance with Article 73 of the 2001 Budget Law."
