Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received British Ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell, at the Grand Serail.
Ambassador Cowell reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s strong support for Lebanon and its government during this critical period, underscoring Britain’s commitment to the Lebanese people and to reinforcing national stability.
The UK diplomat highlighted recent British assistance to the Lebanese Army aimed at enhancing its operational capacity and contributing to security.
Discussions also addressed the need to renew UNIFIL’s mandate due to its stabilizing role in southern Lebanon, along with the imperative of Israeli withdrawal from the five remaining occupied points and full implementation of UNSC Resolution 1701.
Prime Minister Salam also met with CMA CGM Chairman and CEO, Rodolphe Saadeh, who reviewed the company’s ongoing projects in Lebanon.
Emphasis was placed on the strategic importance of revitalizing the Port of Beirut to boost trade and position Lebanon as a regional logistics hub.
Saadeh expressed deep faith in Lebanon’s future and noted plans for further investments, thanking the Prime Minister for fostering a stable investment environment.
In separate meetings, PM Salam received the outgoing Uruguayan Ambassador Carlos Guito, former minister Walid Daouk, and Saudi investors’ representative Ali Mehna. Discussions focused on upgrading Lebanon’s aviation infrastructure, including potential Saudi involvement in the development of Qlayaat Airport and the Beirut Airport transport terminal.
Also among today’s visitors was artist Nabil Nahas, accompanied by Minister of Culture Ghassan Salameh.
