Finance Minister Yassine Jaber called on the United States to pressure Israel to fully comply with the ceasefire and end its repeated violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
During a meeting at the White House with Middle East officials, attended by US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs and Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh, Jaber stressed that Lebanon has abided by UN Resolution 1701, with the army effectively deployed in the South, but Israeli breaches hinder its operations.
Jaber’s remarks came as the Lebanese delegation to the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings continued high-level talks with both institutions. Discussions focused on Lebanon’s financial reform efforts and preparations for an unprecedented visit by World Bank executive directors to Lebanon next month — a sign of renewed confidence and readiness to support reconstruction and new projects.
Jaber also met with Economy Minister Amer Bisat, legal representatives from Lazard and Gottex, and major Eurobond holders, explaining Lebanon’s fiscal challenges and reform progress. The parties agreed to resume negotiations once Lebanon’s financial readiness is restored.
The Minister further met IMF Middle East and Central Asia Director Jihad Azour to advance coordination toward a comprehensive program with the Fund in the near future.
