UNIFIL commander Diodato Abagnera said on the occasion of Lebanon's 82nd independence anniversary that "the force reiterates its commitment to support its army." 

Abagnera added: "The full redeployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country is a crucial step. Full respect for Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity is a central part of implementing Resolution 1701 and a condition for long-term stability."
