Martyrs' Square in Central Beirut will host, at 4 pm today, the ecumenical and interfaith dialogue meeting that will bring together Pope Leo XIV with the heads of the religious communities in Lebanon and more than 300 invitees.
The meeting will include eight speeches by Christian and Muslim spiritual leaders, in addition to the presence of singers from the choirs of: "Sistama Beirut Sings", the Islamic Orphanage and the "Imam Sadr Foundation".
A large tent specially constructed for the event will host the meeting, which includes a circular stage designed as a symbol of the united family.
The meeting will include a welcoming address by the Syriac Catholic Patriarch, Mar Ignatius Joseph III Younan, followed by a reading of the Gospel in the Byzantine rite, and then a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
Afterwards, a documentary featuring testimonies about coexistence and interfaith dialogue will be shown. This will be followed by speeches from eight religious leaders, then a speech by Pope Leo XIV, who will plant an olive tree in the center of the venue as a symbol of peace.
