Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received the ambassadors of the Quintet Committee at the Grand Serail, including Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari, French Ambassador Hervé Magro, Qatari Ambassador Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa, and U.S. Ambassador Michel Issa.

Speaking after the meeting, the Egyptian ambassador said: “The Quintet Committee has met with Salam and discussed several issues, most notably economic reforms and the financial gap, and expressed confidence in the government.”

He added: “We have discussed the conclusion of the first phase of weapons consolidation and affirmed their support for the Lebanese state in all the steps it is taking, noting that matters are progressing well.”

Moussa continued: “We have discussed the parliamentary elections and expressed our hope that they would be held on time, stressing that this milestone is important for restoring regular governance after a period of vacancy, and we support every step in this direction.”

He stressed that “there are no set deadlines, as the state needs to be done with this file as quickly as possible,” noting that the committee is awaiting the army’s plan for the second phase of weapons consolidation early next month.
