Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić announced that more than 40 police officers were injured during last night’s anti-government protests in the country.

He added that some sustained serious injuries, including broken arms and legs, and noted that 37 people were arrested.

Security forces used tear gas during clashes in Belgrade and managed to push protesters toward Slavija Square.

Dačić explained that clashes between protesters and police were still ongoing.

These events follow a series of protests that began late Wednesday in the cities of Vrbas and Bačka Palanka, where demonstrators demanded early elections.
