Indonesian officials reported that two people remain missing on the tourist island of Bali, where floodwaters are beginning to recede after causing at least 16 deaths this week, most of them swept away when rivers overflowed.
The heavy rains led to rapidly worsening floods in Denpasar and six of Bali’s eight regencies, resulting in the closure of main roads and access to the island’s international airport.
Landslides also occurred in some areas.
