Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema was pelted with stones while addressing citizens, prompting his security team to intervene quickly and evacuate him from the site for his safety.

The incident occurred during the president’s visit to the Chiwempala market, which was recently damaged by a fire. Hichilema was preparing to outline the government’s plans to address the region’s economic conditions when angry groups began shouting and throwing stones toward the stage.
