Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar and Information Minister Paul Morcos held a joint press conference at the Ministry of Labor to launch a guide titled “Informing Citizens of Their Labor Rights.” The manual, available in print and online, was prepared by Minister Morcos’s team and includes simplified Q&A sections, legal templates, and practical examples related to workers’ rights.

Minister Haidar thanked Morcos for his initiative, emphasizing the importance of inter-ministerial cooperation “to safeguard the rights of workers, employers, and journalists, especially in these difficult times.”

Morcos explained that the guide is part of a broader series on citizens’ rights in various sectors, noting that it will be updated regularly in coordination with the ministry to reflect legal amendments and judicial precedents. He highlighted topics such as employment contracts, annual leave, maternity rights, and workplace safety.

Haidar confirmed ongoing efforts to ensure social security coverage for freelance journalists and photographers, revealing coordination with the National Social Security Fund to reduce their contribution rates. He also mentioned proposals to address end-of-service compensations and discussions to raise the retirement age to 66 or 68 through forthcoming legislation.
