A handover ceremony took place on Friday at the Energy Ministry between former Minister Nada Boustani and newly-appointed Minister Raymond Ghajar.
Boustani listed a number of achievements during her term in office.
“We worked on renewable energy because it is the future of the energy sector, and the 12% renewable energy goal will be achieved by 2020,” she said as mentioning one of her ministry’s achievements. “The new goal that we finished planning for is 30% renewable energy by the year 2030,” she added.
As for the water and sanitation sector, Boustani said that work on updating the national strategy was done. “This will constitute a scientific and technical basis for all water and sanitation projects in the next ten years,” she added.
The former minister deemed the oil sector a source of “hope” for Lebanon. “Everyone is waiting for the kickoff of drilling in Block No. 4. As for the second licensing round, it was postponed to the end of April 2020 upon a request from international companies."
In turn, Minister Ghajar said, “I’ve received trust from a faithful hand, and what has been achieved so far is not insignificant at all!”
