Two people were killed and 6 others were injured as a result of an explosion that occurred in an oil field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District in western Siberia, according to the Russian local authorities, as reported by Russia Today.

The local Ministry of Health stated via "Telegram" this morning, Tuesday, that the injured, who were left behind by the explosion that followed a fire in the oil field, ranged from serious to very serious, adding that they were receiving all necessary medical assistance.

The investigation committee said that the explosion occurred due to "violation of safety rules during repair and construction work."
