After serving a 28-year prison sentence for plotting the 1982 assassinations of U.S. military attache Charles Robert Ray and Israeli diplomat Yacov Barsimantov, a French court has granted release of George Ibrahim Abdallah, on condition he leaves France.

The 61-year-old Lebanese national and former head of the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Factions was arrested in 1984 and sentenced to life three years later. He had been eligible for parole since 1999 but failed to be released.
