Protesters in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, attacked the French embassy, leading to a fire in the building.
French media reported that the embassy attack occurred after protests against the escalating conflict in the eastern part of the country.
In response to the attack, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot condemned the assault in Kinshasa as "unacceptable."
He posted on X that the French embassy in Kinshasa was attacked, resulting in a fire.
Barrot added that the fire was brought under control after the embassies of Rwanda, France, Belgium, and the United States were targeted, with smoke rising above the French embassy building.
In a national TV address, Congolese Minister of Information Patrick Muyaya urged protesters to stop attacking embassies.
He later stated that the situation had been brought under control.
He continued, "We have every right to express our anger, but let's do so peacefully. We should not attack the consular infrastructure of accredited countries in Congo."
