Watch: The Capital Under Bombardment
The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was subjected to a Russian missile attack, resulting in several explosions, according to Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko wrote on Telegram, "Explosions in the capital. Air defenses are working. Stay in shelters!" He noted that ambulances would be heading to at least three areas in Kyiv.

Fires broke out in these areas, and at least two people were "injured" in the Darnytsky district (southeast), according to Klitschko.

The mayor stated, "The missile attack on Kyiv continues."

Ukrainian air defenses reported that alerts were issued in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Odessa regions, indicating that "missiles entered from the north in the Chernihiv area and are heading south."

Russian media, according to Reuters, reported that "air defense units destroyed 11 Ukrainian drones last night."

In this context, the Polish Armed Forces' Operational Command announced that Polish and allied aircraft took off early Sunday morning to ensure the safety of Polish airspace after Russia launched airstrikes targeting western Ukraine.
