An oil engineer told the agency that production operations were stopped as a precautionary measure and that firefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire.

The American oil company operating the field issued a statement saying that an explosion, of an unspecified nature, occurred in the morning inside the Sarsing field, leading to a suspension of work. The statement noted that the explosion did not result in any casualties but caused material damage.
