The Cabinet has approved renaming Hafez al-Assad Avenue, linking central Beirut to the international airport, after iconic Lebanese artist Ziad Rahbani, following an off-agenda request by President Joseph Aoun.
Rahbani, who passed away on July 26, was mourned across the political spectrum as a symbol of Lebanese cultural and political life.
