Minister of Information Paul Morcos met with Lebanon’s newly appointed Ambassador to Turkey Mounir Aanouti for discussions on bilateral relations and ways to support Lebanese media.
Morcos also received journalist Sami Kleib and Hadi Jaafar, Program Director at Al-Ghad TV, to discuss the current media landscape in Lebanon and explore opportunities for collaboration with Télé Liban.
Later, Minister Morcos welcomed Press Syndicate Head Aouni Al-Kaaki, who described the visit as “routine and necessary,” praising the minister’s dedication and transparency in working toward the long-awaited media law. Al-Kaaki voiced concern over the unregulated state of digital media platforms, many of which are run by individuals with no background in journalism, urging the need for proper registration and oversight by the Ministry and the National Audiovisual Council.
Moreover, Al-Kaaki reaffirmed his trust in Morcos’s legal expertise and seriousness in tackling media reform amid Lebanon’s broader national challenges.
