The media office of the Druze religious leadership (Sheikh al-Aql) said that video footage from a camera inside the National Hospital in Sweida, circulated by media outlets and social media platforms, clearly shows the “criminal, inhumane, immoral, and barbaric act” committed by security personnel against a member of the hospital’s medical staff.
The statement stressed that this incident necessitates urgent investigations to identify those responsible and enforce legal accountability, not only for this “heinous crime” but also for other violations and atrocities committed in the city and for the parties behind them.
The office called on relevant international bodies, human rights organizations, and specialized international institutions to examine documented evidence of violations against unarmed civilians, including elders, women, and children, and to take appropriate action.
It also praised the UN Security Council’s decision to hold all perpetrators of violence against civilians in Sweida accountable and bring them to justice.
