Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi announced that his country is working with China and Russia to avert potential European sanctions.
In a letter sent Tuesday to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France expressed their willingness to reactivate the sanctions mechanism on Iran if a negotiated solution to the Iranian nuclear program is not reached by the end of August.
"If that happens, it will be negative, and we will try to prevent it," Araqchi said in an interview with Iranian state television, broadcast by Agence France-Presse. "We are working with China and Russia to prevent it."
