Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel marked the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of President-elect Bachir Gemayel, hailing him as a symbol of Lebanon’s struggle for sovereignty and independence.
“Forty-three years after his martyrdom at the Kataeb's house… Bachir has triumphed, along with a free, sovereign, and independent Lebanon,” Gemayel wrote on the social platform X.
Bachir Gemayel was elected president in 1982 but was assassinated 22 days later in a massive bombing at the Kataeb's office in Ashrafieh.
