Public works ministry launches anti-littering campaign
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport launched a nationwide awareness campaign under the banners “If the city floods… it’s on us” and “Winter is a blessing… don’t turn it into a curse”, with the overarching slogan “Together Against Floods.”

In a statement, the ministry said the campaign features visual materials showing how littering clogs rainwater drainage networks, triggering floods. It also uses infographics and field footage to illustrate how floods form, outlining the roles of state institutions, municipalities, and contracted cleaning companies, while highlighting the citizen’s central role in protecting public infrastructure.

The campaign further points to climate change as a factor intensifying sudden downpours and associated challenges.

The ministry stressed the initiative is built on coordination with the Interior Ministry, the Energy and Water Ministry, the Council for Development and Reconstruction, cleaning contractors (City Blue, Ramco), civil society, and municipalities, reaffirming that responsibility is shared between the state and its citizens.
