Prime minister Salam issued the following statement:

What happened today in the Raouche area constitutes a clear violation of the approval granted by the Governor of Beirut to the organizers of the demonstration led by Hezbollah supporters, which explicitly stated that “Raouche Rock must not be illuminated under any circumstances from land, sea, or air, and no light images should be projected on it.”

Accordingly, I contacted the Ministers of Interior, Justice, and Defense and requested that they take the appropriate measures, including the arrest of those responsible and referring them for investigation so that they may face the penalties prescribed by law.

It goes without saying that this represents a breach of the explicit commitments of the organizing party and its supporters, marking another misstep that negatively affects their credibility in dealing with the state and its institutions.

This reprehensible act will not deter us from our decision to rebuild a state of law and institutions; rather, it strengthens our determination to fulfill this national duty.
