Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received former Minister Wadih El Khazen, at his second presidential headquarters in Ain El Tineh.
The discussion reportedly touched on the latest political and field developments, as well as the upcoming parliamentary elections entitlement.
Following the meeting, El Khazen said, "I was honored to meet with Speaker Nabih Berri. We discussed various current national, political, and economic dossiers, most notably the upcoming parliamentary elections, the ongoing Israeli aggression against southern Lebanon, and ways to fortify internal unity amid the mounting challenges facing the country."
El-Khazen added: "The meeting included a comprehensive review of the current political situation, with Speaker Berri stressing the need to hold parliamentary elections on their set constitutional date, out of respect for the provisions of the Constitution and in consolidation of the principle of democratic rotation of power, given that elections constitute a national entitlement that regenerates political life and gives the Lebanese the opportunity to express their free will in a climate of transparency and fair competition."
Al-Khazen continued: "In the same context, Speaker Berri emphasized that adherence to constitutional deadlines is the cornerstone of preserving the democratic system, and that any postponement or tampering with this deadline will only serve further division and fragmentation, at a time when Lebanon needs the broadest national consensus to accompany the process of rescue and reform."
Separately, Speaker Berri received former Minister Jean-Louis Kordahi, with whom he discussed political developments and the general situation in the country.
Among Ain El-Tineh’s itinerant visitors for today had been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dar Al Ajaza Al Islamia Hospital (DAIH), Oussama Choucair, and Board members, who came on a protocol visit.
The visit had been an opportunity to brief Speaker Berri on the hospital's work and its services at the healthcare and social levels.
