Watch: Salam Pledges Reconstruction Support, Cites Limited Capabilities
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that “the government’s project is to restore the state, and that begins with restoring people’s trust,” highlighting “the need to increase security personnel and the army, especially with the start of UNIFIL’s withdrawal from the south.”

Speaking from Sidon, Salam added: “We have been working for months to hold an international conference to support the military and security forces, and God willing, this will happen soon, allowing us to meet a large part of what is needed.”

He also noted: “Development has been greatly neglected, and balanced development is essential,” and continued, “We are not holding back in the reconstruction process, but our resources are very limited.”

Salam affirmed his confidence: “and I am confident that we will soon succeed in holding an international conference to kickstart development and reconstruction efforts.”
