President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace to review the overall situation in the country, particularly the security developments in southern Lebanon amid continued Israeli attacks that also extended to the Bekaa region.
The two leaders also discussed regional developments following Sharm el-Sheikh Conference and preparations for next week’s Cabinet session.
President Aoun later received former MP Nader Sukkar, who said discussions focused on parliamentary elections, the issue of exclusive arms control, and negotiations to preserve Lebanon’s full sovereignty.
On the diplomatic front, Aoun met with five newly appointed ambassadors, Ali Al-Moula (Algeria), Milad Namour (Tunisia), Rahab Abou Zein (Bulgaria), Bachir Azzam (Moscow), and Ahmad Sweidan (Tehran)—urging them to strengthen bilateral relations and support Lebanese communities abroad.
In sports, President Aoun congratulated world MMA champion Sylvie Samaha, her coach and former world champion Mohammad Fakhr El-Dine, and the delegation accompanying them, praising Samaha for raising Lebanon’s name on the global stage.
