The National Bloc hosted Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat in Gemmayzeh as part of its “Session with the Bloc” series, in a discussion moderated by journalist Khaled Abou Chacra.
Bisat described Lebanon’s economy as facing “deep structural weakness” that requires bold decisions, noting that 2025 could mark the country’s best economic year since 2011. He stressed the need for sustainable, production-driven growth, reforming state institutions, restructuring public debt, and restoring confidence in the financial sector.
Bisat further affirmed that “no depositors’ funds will be written off,” and underscored Lebanon’s intent to reach a fair, interest-based agreement with the IMF.
