Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Anne-Claire Legendre, Advisor to the French President for North Africa and the Middle East, at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh, accompanied by a delegation and attended by French Ambassador Hervé Magroand Parliamentary Speaker’s Advisor Mahmoud Berri.
Discussions focused on political and field developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between Lebanon and France.
Berri also met with Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Al-Bisat and President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council Charles Arbid. The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming “Beirut 1” Conference, scheduled for 18–19 November, alongside the broader economic situation.
Following the meeting, Minister Bisat said: “We briefed Speaker Berri on the preparations for the Beirut 1 Conference. We are fully aware of the significant challenges facing the country, but we also believe in Lebanon’s real potential and opportunities for success—particularly through investment and the private sector.”
Moreover, Bisat noted that 800 participants, including 120 international attendees and 50 regional and global companies, have registered, describing the conference as an opportunity for the government to present its economic vision and highlight available prospects.
Berri later received Nicolas von Arx, the ICRC Regional Director for the Middle East, and an accompanying delegation, who presented the committee’s programs and activities in Lebanon and discussed avenues of cooperation.
