Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received Nicolas von Arx, Regional Director for the Near and Middle East at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), heading a delegation from the organization.
The delegation briefed Salam on the findings of its visit to Lebanon, particularly to the south, including field assessments and ongoing ICRC projects, notably in water network rehabilitation and infrastructure support. Salam expressed his appreciation for the committee’s humanitarian efforts during this critical period.
Talks also addressed the issue of Lebanese detainees in Israeli prisons.
Salam underscored the “need for the ICRC to help verify the number of detainees, determine their fate, identify their places of detention, and ensure their humanitarian conditions and health status.”
The PM stressed that Lebanon urges the international community and humanitarian organizations to pressure Israel for their release.
Prime Minister Salam also met with Sheikh Ahmad Darwish al-Kurdi, Beirut’s Sharia Judge, for discussions on general affairs.
