Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received the Chairman and Director General of the Port of Beirut, Marwan Al-Naffi, at the Grand Serail, accompanied by members of the Board of Directors and in the presence of Cabinet Secretary General Judge Mahmoud Makkieh.
Salam opened the meeting by congratulating the Board on its recent appointment. The discussion focused on the preliminary assessment prepared by the Board outlining the administrative, logistical, and technical challenges facing the port, as well as the steps underway to modernize and streamline its operations.
Al-Naffi noted that the delegation thanked the Prime Minister for his recent visit to the Port of Beirut and for presiding over a Board meeting on-site, describing the visit as “an important boost to the Council’s efforts to advance the port’s work.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Salam stressed the need to adopt a clear and actionable roadmap to address the existing challenges, given the Port of Beirut’s central role in supporting Lebanon’s economic growth.
