Lebanon is heading into a period of unstable fall weather, with rain, thunderstorms, and a noticeable drop in temperatures expected through the end of the week, according to the Meteorological Department at Civil Aviation.
On Wednesday, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with fog over the mountains. Light, scattered showers are expected at times, becoming heavier in the south from the afternoon onward, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and occasionally brisk winds that may reach 60 km/h. Some breaks in the clouds are likely during the day.
Thursday will bring more impactful weather: widespread cloudiness, thick fog on the high terrain, and a rapid drop in temperatures, pushing them below seasonal averages. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected, along with active winds. Snow will fall around 1,900 meters during the day, dropping gradually to about 1,700 meters in the north by Friday morning.
The weather improves gradually on Friday afternoon, but temperatures remain colder than usual. Morning showers are still possible, with some snow above 1,800 meters.
Saturday turns partly cloudy with a slight warm-up, especially inland and in the mountains, though nights remain cold.
Temperatures over the coming days will range between 18 and 20°C along the coast, 7 to 11°C in the mountains, and 9 to 11°C inland. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to southeasterly, occasionally strengthening, especially overnight in northern areas. Sea conditions will be rough, with water temperatures around 24°C.
