Kassem raises ceasefire violations, reconstruction in meeting with Araghchi
Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Kassem met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani. The meeting included discussions on regional and international developments and their implications for the region.

According to a statement, Kassem addressed what he described as ongoing US and Israeli actions in the region, as well as Israel’s failure to comply with the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, despite Lebanon’s adherence to its commitments south of the Litani River. He said these developments reflect broader Israeli policies, referring to statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Qassem said Israel would not achieve its objectives through continued military operations, citing public resilience and ongoing resistance. He added that cooperation with the Lebanese state and army would continue with the aim of ending hostilities, addressing reconstruction, securing the release of detainees, and supporting state institutions.

For his part, Araghchi said Iran seeks to strengthen its relationship with Lebanon within the framework of relations between friendly states. He noted that the accompanying economic delegation aims to expand cooperation across several sectors.

Araghchi also referred to Iran’s domestic situation under sanctions, saying the country has taken measures to address current challenges and that their impact would become apparent in the near future. He reiterated that threats would not deter Iran from pursuing peaceful nuclear activities or developing its defensive capabilities, stressing Iran’s intention to continue strengthening its position in the face of regional and international challenges.
