The Forecasting Division of the Meteorological Service at the General Directorate of Civil Aviation has predicted that tomorrow’s weather will be partly cloudy with fog over the highlands, a slight rise in temperatures along the coast, light scattered rain, and some light snow starting from 1,200 meters, with wide clearings during the day. Winds will remain active. Drivers are warned of ice formation on mountain and inland roads overnight, starting from 1,100 meters.
The bulletin states the following:
General Situation:
A highly active atmospheric low, originating from the north of the Black Sea, is controlling Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean basin. It is accompanied by very cold air masses, causing a sharp drop in temperatures, heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and snow down to 900 meters inland and on the northern highlands. This weather will continue until Wednesday morning, gradually easing and leaving frost and ice formation on inland and mountain roads.
Warning: Be cautious of flash floods, landslides, and the use of mountain roads above 1,400 meters due to snow accumulation. Also, warnings are issued for flying billboards and solar panels along roads due to strong winds, and sea waves may rise up to 5 meters.
Note: Average temperatures for January:
Beirut: 12–19°C
Tripoli: 9–17°C
Zahle: 3–13°C
Expected Weather in Lebanon:
Tuesday: Cloudy with dense fog over the highlands, an additional sharp drop in temperatures. Scattered heavy rain will fall, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail. Snow will fall at 1,200 meters during the day, gradually lowering to 900 meters over the northern highlands and inland. Winds remain active, reaching up to 90 km/h, raising sea waves up to 5 meters. Rain and snow will ease starting in the evening.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy with fog over the highlands, slight rise in temperatures along the coast. Light scattered rain and some light snow starting from 1,200 meters, with wide clearings during the day. Winds remain active. Ice formation is expected on mountain and inland roads overnight from 1,100 meters.
Thursday: Partly to mostly cloudy with a further rise in temperatures, still below seasonal averages. Ice formation remains possible on mountain and inland roads in the early morning and overnight above 1,100 meters.
