The Israeli army announced that it foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons using two drones across the western border with Egypt.
Israeli media added that army aerial monitoring units detected the drones crossing from Egypt into Israeli territory in an attempt to smuggle weapons.
The media noted that the Israeli army spokesperson confirmed: “The aerial monitoring units and air surveillance system identified the two drones, and forces from the Varan Brigade were immediately dispatched to the site, where the drones were intercepted and brought under control.”
The reports indicated that the drones were carrying six M-16 rifles, which were later handed over to the relevant security authorities to complete procedures.
The media added that this is not the first incident of its kind, as the army had previously announced earlier this month the interception of another drone in the same area, which was carrying three M-16 rifles and sixteen ammunition magazines.
