European summit to respond to Trump’s tariffs
European Council President António Costa announced that “EU leaders will meet in the coming days to coordinate their response after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs over the Greenland issue.”

Costa wrote on social media: “Given the importance of current developments and in order to coordinate more effectively, I have decided to convene an extraordinary European Council meeting in the coming days.”

He added, as the chair of EU summits, that his consultations with EU members showed strong commitment to support Denmark and Greenland and readiness to confront any form of coercion, while continuing constructive engagement with the United States.

A European official indicated that Costa is considering holding the summit in Brussels on Thursday.
