The Habbariyeh Municipality condemned, on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents, and in solidarity with the people of Arqoub and the South, the abduction of Atwi Atwi from his home in Hebariya in front of his family members.
In a statement, the municipality said: “This criminal act, attributed to the enemy, constitutes a blatant attack on sovereignty, security, and stability, and a flagrant violation of the sanctity of homes and the dignity of citizens. It is entirely unacceptable under any circumstances.”
The statement emphasized that such practices will not undermine the resilience of the people or their attachment to their land. It called on the relevant authorities to take full responsibility and ensure a proper follow-up to this serious assault, safeguarding citizens and preserving their dignity. The municipality also stressed full solidarity with the abducted man’s family.
Similarly, the Kfar Hamam Municipality issued a statement: “On the night of 9/2/2026, a Zionist military force abducted Atwi Atwi from his home in Habbariyeh , in front of his children. While we condemn this blatant assault on unarmed civilians, we call on the state and UNIFIL forces to act swiftly and effectively to return Atwi to his family. We also demand full protection for all residents in the Arqoub area and the deployment of the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL across all areas, particularly in locations vulnerable to enemy infiltration.”
