Berri leads a series of meetings
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of German Ambassador to Lebanon Kurt Georg Stöckl-Stillfried, Lebanese Ambassador to Germany Abir Ali, and Speaker Berri’s Media Advisor Ali Hamdan.

The discussions reportedly touched on the developments in Lebanon and the region, the latest political and field updates, as well as the Lebanese-German relations.

Speaker Berri thanked German President Steinmeier and Germany for their "support for Lebanon, particularly for the Army and UNIFIL, as well as their contributions to numerous development projects."

Berri also stressed the "necessity for the international community to intensify its efforts to compel Israel to cease its attacks and its violations of Resolution 1701 and the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, which Lebanon has fully adhered to from the very beginning."

Berri also stressed that "Lebanon and the Lebanese people do not want war, and they will not accept Israeli occupation of their land."

German President Steinmeier affirmed that Germany will continue to support Lebanon in all areas and will always stand by its side.

Following the meeting, and in response to a question by media representatives, Speaker Berri stressed that parliamentary elections will be held on time, with no technical or non-technical postponement.

On the other hand, Speaker Berri received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who came on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the general situation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Berri also received the Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Kenji Yokota, with whom he discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between Lebanon and Japan.

The House Speaker later met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, with whom he discussed the latest developments, particularly the field updates, in light of Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon and its daily violations of the ceasefire terms.
